The Coen Cup was played at Belton Woods GC, and is a cup that is open to all members, Juniors, Ladies, Seniors and Men and is played each year in September.
The Cup was first played for in September 2018. The Trophy name is to acknowledge the fine contribution made to the Club and Hotel by the then outgoing General Manager, “Seamus Coen”.
The format is a Stableford format held on the Lakes Course, played from the red and white tees.
Each year there has been a prize giving ceremony after the competition, where the prizes and Trophy are presented by Seamus himself who travels down form St Andrews!
Over the years the competition has become a day not to be missed!
Seamus still has a great rapport with the members of Belton Woods, and has made the Coen Cup into a unique tournament where all members sections are able to compete and raise money for the Junior Section at Belton Woods.
The Belton Woods Junior section is a very positive group that is administered by Junior organiser “Ken Claxon” and coaching from “Iain Fulton (PGA Professional)” The facilities at Belton Woods offer some of the best in the area that help make some young golfers into accomplished golfers.
